Sea Fever, arr Kerry Prest – The Bloomington Chorale Ambassadors

While I was searching for music from around the globe, I stumbled upon “Sea Fever” by arranger, Kerry Prest. The lyrics are from a poem by John Masefield. Much of his writing is inspired by his early experiences as a merchant seaman living the life of complete freedom. The ship he is on allows him to go wherever he pleases and never be tied down to one place. The melody, one of composer John Ireland’s most famous ones is woven together with Masefield’s prose by Kerry Prest in the most exquisite way and provides the listener with a musical glimpse into the journey of a merchant seaman. Soloist, Jim Hayegna brings Masefield’s prose to life, singing as though he is standing on the deck of a ship bound for new adventure.” – Dr. Camilla Horne

The Bloomington Chorale has had the honor of singing the National Anthem at the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Twins games in the last year.
